Joy Bible Camp

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I am currently at Okutama Bible Chalet (OBC) working at Joy Bible Camp (JBC) as a head guy counselor and I am writing this to you during the one day break that we have between camps #2 and #3. Our first two camps went very well and I the Lord has done amazing things.
At camp my nickname is Cheerio and there are many kids that I have gotten to know through camp work over the 6 or 7 years that I have counseled. In camp #1 we have mostly 3rd-5th graders and my co-counselor (Flash) and I had 6 guys. As far as I knew all the boys came from Bible-believing Christian homes and it was a really pleasure to spend time with them and do all sorts of activities together as a cabin. In camp #2 I and my co-counselor (Snoopy) had 7 boys and again we had some great times together.

Some Highlights:
  • Billy in Camp #1 was a joy to have in the cabin and has a great love for the Lord
  • We had good weather for both camps #1 and #2 so that we could do some our activities for our theme dinner (Safari theme)
  • Yesterday we had no rain on the campfire night
  • We have had a number of kids that have accepted Christ for the first time, some that said they wanted to learn more, at least one that is thinking about baptism, and that Lord has given great health and protection to all the campers and staff
  • I have backed out of leading some of the music as I have done in the past several years and it has been really good for me to be able to spend more time with my cabin
  • Bob Hedricks, our speaker for camp #2 has been a real encouragement to me and it has also been good to work with David Harris who is a good friend of mine from camp counseling at JBC
Prayer Requests
  • For continued health and protection of campers and staff
  • For my cabin to be unified
  • For the counselors to set a good example for the campers
  • That I will be able to have deep conversations about Christ with the guys in my cabin
  • That I will set aside precious time for the Lord so that I can be more ready to give to the campers
  • For Co-Cheebs (my dad) as he directs the camp and that he would have wisdom in how he leads and instructs
  • For Bobaloo (Bob Hedricks) as he speaks for the 3rd camp
